<image:caption>The theme was 'Outer Space' and was inspired by the English Tourng Opera's 'Laika the Spacedog'.

For one of my schools I helped the children to explore fantasy and narrative to create comic like storyboards, which illustrated “what really happened” to Laika after she was sent into space. </image:caption>

<image:caption>(Black and white pen, paper and glass beads on mount board)

The final piece displayed in the Artdepot's 'Apthorp Gallery' was a collaboration between Year 4 & Year 6. This huge story board illustrated the children's different interpretations and fantasies of what really happened to Laika the space after she was launched into space.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In response to Laika the space dog, I encouraged the children to explore ideas of adaptation and survival. <image:caption>The children empathised with Laika, thinking about how they would feel in this situation and what powers they might need to survive. This is shown on their characters shields, which represent their desires and wishes of how they could manipulate the environment and protect themselves in space and survive being sent away from home. </image:caption>
